Thoth

Thoth is my 2018 MacBook Pro running in clamshell mode on a shelf. It’s an always-on AI agent node. Named after the Egyptian god of knowledge and writing.

This is what The Commune box actually looks like in practice. Not a theoretical product. A real machine running real jobs. Morning briefs at 7 AM. Signal scouts. Model comparisons. Community automation. All routing through Telegram so I can approve things from my phone.

It sits alongside a Beelink mini PC that handles media, git mirrors, and Docker services. Connected over Tailscale. The whole setup costs maybe $75 a month in API calls and electricity.

Data sovereignty for individuals stops being abstract when you see it running. My data stays on my shelf. My agents run on my hardware. When something breaks, I fix it. When something improves upstream, I pull it in.

The vision was always Local-First Software and Owning your data infrastructure eliminates the need for specialized middleware and roles. Thoth proves the concept. It’s crude. It works. It gets better every week.
